Have a great variety of Brazilian products. I bought the feijoada pack, it came a little too fatty, but it was good.

pao de queijo, the delicious and wonderful cheesy bread I had there
City & State: Washington DC

Since visiting the Brazilian embassy on the open embassy day, I have been craving and searching for pao de queijo, the delicious and wonderful cheesy bread I had there. Super happy I found it here.

They really should rename this store to Brazilian grocery, not European foods -- or at least specify Brazilian in the store name. At least the outside has the Brazilian flag on the sign.

I uploaded a ton of the cheesy bread pao de queijo pictures Lol. So many varieties! Enjoy!

Great variety
City & State: Boston MA

Great variety. I have been trying to go to this place for quite a while and finally I did. With COVID schedule I had a hard time but made it. its a very popular place, there was a line to go in as they abide by the city's guidelines. It's great to be able to find so many things from back home. The owners are helpful and pleasant. I really like that they have a butcher shop right there. This place is gonna become a staple in my grocery-life.

A small market with most of the staple groceries from Brazil, as well as a handful of items from Portugal and other Latin American countries.
City & State: Pentagon City, Arlington

A small market with most of the staple groceries from Brazil, as well as a handful of items from Portugal and other Latin American countries.

For example, we stopped there today to buy some frozen pão de queijo (Forno de Minas), goiabada (Predilecta), margarina (Qualy), requeijão (Catupiry), and cream crackers (Piraquê).

We've also found refrigerated premade wrappers for pasteis, frozen salgadinhos, Nescau, Farinha Lactea, Pilão, etc.

Their stock fluctuates throughout the year and more popular brands often sell out. Their Brazilian grocery options are also far smaller compared to other stores like By Brazil up in Wheaton.

For example: By Brazil typically stocks a few rows deep worth of Piraquê crackers, including Água Gergelim and Água e Sal. Here you'll be lucky to score even a few packages of the standard cream crackers.

There's also what appears to be a bread case plastered with stickers for the famed Teixeira's Bakery out of Newark, but a smattering of random bags and tools inside instead. If you're craving the pão francês/pãozinho you can find at some of the Brazilian shops in Maryland, you're out of luck.

But if you live in Northern Virginia and can't spare the roadtrip up to Maryland, or are looking for a heartier alternative to the Brazi Bites at Whole Foods/Costco, this store can serve as a stopgap.

The olives remind me of this summer in Spain and I can't wait to come back to European Foods
City & State: South Lake Tahoe, CA

It's been a while since we've been here, but a recent visit helps me remember why we loved it.  European Foods carries Spanish, Portuguese, and Brazilian food products. I came in searching for accompaniments to our Spanish tapas dinner and was pleasantly surprised to walk out with:
Spanish Olives with anchovies
Galician canned octopus and mussels
Boquerones
These finds would normally set me back $30-40 in DC, but I got everything for about $20.  The olives remind me of this summer in Spain and I can't wait to come back to European Foods to stock up.

Small store but packs a punch for unique portugese and brazilian grocery items,
City & State: El Segundo, CA

Small store but packs a punch for unique portugese and brazilian grocery items, especially hard to find pure pressed olive oils.  A fantastic selection of virgin, pure, unadulterated, small batch-crafted olive oils from Portugal.  A decent selection of Portugese wines and especially from time to time, they stock the hard to find white port.  They have a good frozen selection of pastel de nata, the creme pastries you eat with coffee.  They have bacalau (cod) fritters already for you to pop in the oven and serve. Also they have frozen empanada style pastries done in the brazilian style.

I never buy anything from their meat counter, because I am not a meat eater, but it looks amazing.

This is a treasure in Arlington and you are missing out by not visiting and sampling some of their portugese and brazilian imports. Just BIG WOW FACTOR.

Brazilian and other South American treats yes.  They are very well-stocked with sausages and other processed meats.

If you're lucky you might find some Suckling piglet or pulled goat.  This is perfect for those who want to spice up their BBQ and test their grill skills.

You can also find some dried and salted  seafood.  They are perfect for making a soup.

You can also pick up some Portuguese rolls and some Brazilian cheese bread.  Perfect for a quick snack.

Unfortunately they lack fresh fruit.  However they do have some frozen pulp and Brazilian drinks.

If you've never been to European Foods check it out. 🙂

City & State: Alexandria, VA

This place has all kinds of good stuff from Brazil that is difficult to find in the area. Pao de queijo, queijo de minas, various sausages, and of course passionfruit juice. I have yet to find a place with actual passionfruit in the area (the big yellow kind), but European Foods has the unsweetened concentrate from Da Fruta that is about as close as you are going to get without smuggling them back on the plane.

I also believe it is family owned, and the folks there are always friendly and helpful.

Glad, I went in then, and have been coming since routinely to buy rice, coffee, requeijao, and pao de queijo.
City & State: Alexandria, VA

Up until about 3 years ago, I didn't even know this place existed. Even when I found out there was a store on the corner of Pershing and Washington Blvd that sells guarana soda, I was skeptical because it's called "european foods."

Glad, I went in then, and have been coming since routinely to buy rice, coffee, requeijao, and pao de queijo.

On special occasions, we will get the picanha, which is real good. Haven't tried the other meat, but I imagine it's as good as it looks, and is fresh.

Haven't seen Brazilian beer such as Skol or Brahma, but if it's there, it probably goes fast.

It has everything, from queijo mineiro to alfajores.
City & State: Chevy Chase, MD

OMG! This place is heaven! I am Brazilian and I used to live in NYC and when I moved to DC I was super sad that it would become close to impossible to find a good "mercadinho," but this!! It has everything, from queijo mineiro to alfajores. But the best thing ever is that they have CHOCAPIC! For those not familiar with this, it's simply the best cereal in the WORLD and can only be found in Europe. The people are also very friendly and I had a nice little chat with one of the people who worked there. And they all speak Portuguese, which is great! I went on a Sunday morning, so they were out of one of things I wanted, but that's normal since they get their shipment on Mondays. Definitely worth going! I am totally going back there!!! 🙂

They have everything, to make any brazilian happy
City & State: Falls Church, VA

So far the BEST place to buy brazilian food.
They have everything, to make any brazilian happy: brazilian barbecues cuts of meats, feijoada, brazilian sausages, cheese rolls (pao de queijo), guarana, coxinha, brigadeiro, sonho de valsa, coffe, some whithe / fresh cheese and a huge variety of other countries, Portugal and South America.
The staff is awesome friendly and they speak portuguese.
The man that cut the meats always understand me, even when I'm buying just a little piece (from ribs, i.e) he will always ask me if I want him to separate the bones, and had never tried to push me another stuff but what I have asked.

The cashier is also something else, always smiling, and will always wish you a good morning / afternoon.

When I;m homesick, just to be there helps me to feel better \o/

Highly recommend a pit stop there!

This is a store to explore, especially if you're a linguica chica.
City & State: New York, NY

Scored some ingredients to make my sparse ingredient version of rabo encendido which I crock-potted for hours upon crotchety hours to get more of the health benefits for my joints (not that they're crackling yet, nope not even my knuckles are snap-friendly). Also got a tub o' quince jam as an ode to the quince tree I grew up with and which awaits my arrival with fanfare (they produce cherry blossom-like flowerage) if I get to see my family backyard this February or March. This is a store to explore, especially if you're a linguica chica.

After years of livid in the dc area I finally found a Portuguese store!!!!!! No more waiting until I drive all the way to new York to get my hands on my chourica, caldo verde, dobrasa, favorite olive oil, serrinha... You get the point.

There aren't too many portuguese in this area it seems so their bigger store is in manassas where they have more portuguese items. However, ifyou ever have a hankering for something they don't have here just ask them for it and they will gladly get it for you. They also make weekly trips to new jersey to pick up new items and will take personal orders from you (even over the phone) and hold it for you until you come in.

The only drawback isthey make their trips on like Tuesday so if you're looking for some natas or broa or any bread it won't be very fresh. But hey, they'll always freeze stuff so it keeps!!

Great great great great place with really nice employees. So worth the trek from dc!!!!!

The real deal on Portuguese food
City & State: Washington, DC

The real deal on Portuguese food. My dad is Portuguese and this is the stuff he would buy, linguica, chorizo, sardinhas, oils, bacalao. They have wines as well. I can't speak for Brazilian (not my area of knowledge) but you have what you need to cook true continental Portuguese foods here. They also bring down stuff (yummy baked good and meats) from the Newark store "Lopes," which we used to make pilgrimages to in my youth. Nice people too.

this place have plenty of awesome Guarana Antartica in stock, they also have terrific cuts of beef including top sirloin or picanha
City & State: Reno, NV

Having visited Rio on more than 1 occasion, I always jump at the chance to eat at a churrascaria or buy Brazilian products whenever I can.  I am also addicted to that slightly fruity soda known as Guarana (from the fruit), but I've had a dickens of a time locating a reliable source for it.  Until now.  Not only does this place have plenty of awesome Guarana Antartica in stock, they also have terrific cuts of beef including top sirloin or picanha at $5.99/lb!  I was also excited to see reasonably-priced cans of palm hearts, bottles of the uber-healthy acai berry in smoothie form, and Pilao which is my favorite brazilian coffee.  All of these wonderful products as well as the genial and enthusiastic owner really make me feel like I'm back in Rio (minus the beach, soccer players, and transvestites, of course).  The best part is that the store is only a mile from home!  While I haven't taken home any of the butcher's cuts yet, I will very soon and almost certainly bump my rating up to that sacred 5th star with my update!

Great selection of fresh meats, wines, exotic foods, and friendly, helpful staff.  Pick up a bag of cheese rolls in the frozen foods aisle.  You'll thank me later.
